3 Signs It’s Time To Invest In A New Kitchen

We often put off home improvements such as kitchen renovations due to the cost of such a project, as well as the inconvenience of having to live off takeaways for a little while as the work is carried out. However, there does come a time when you can no longer ignore the job and just have to take the plunge.

There are certain situations that definitely call for a new kitchen, and we are going to take a look at three signs it’s definitely time to switch things up.

Moving house

The most obvious reason is probably that you are moving house. This could either be a case of moving into a property where the existing kitchen is not to your taste or if you are thinking of selling your house.

You should not have to live with a kitchen that simply isn’t you, and lots of people put off upgrading the kitchen following a move to focus on other areas, but often this means that what was functional for the previous owners just does not work for you and your family.

Similarly, if you have put up with a kitchen that has started to fall apart but you are thinking of moving, it is advisable to give it an upgrade before putting the house on the market as the kitchen really does affect the overall value of the property.

A change in circumstances

Things change, and sometimes what worked for you once becomes impractical a few years down the line.

One example would be if your family is growing. Perhaps you want more surface space so that you can cook with your partner, or you’d like to include a dining area or breakfast bar so that the family can all eat together.

An island can be a great addition if you need more storage and extra seating, helping to keep your kitchen free from clutter and providing a space where children or guests can feel part of the action at the same time.

You no longer enjoy spending time in your kitchen

The kitchen is one of the main rooms of the house, and possibly the room in which you spend a large amount of time. So if you find that you are avoiding spending time in there, and perhaps opting to go out to eat or ordering in because you no longer like the room, it’s definitely time to think about an overhaul.

Aston Designs, a luxury kitchen specialist in Milton Keynes told us “one of the most common reasons people come to us to design a new kitchen is because they no longer enjoy cooking, and navigating their kitchen has become a chore. Outdated decor, bad lighting, or inadequate worktop space are just a few things that can put you off spending time in the kitchen, and even a simple makeover can often breathe new life into the space.”

These are just a few reasons to consider investing in a new kitchen, but often people also put it off because they can’t envision what they can change. Take a look at these incredible kitchen transformations for inspiration if your own kitchen is in need of a shake up!
